Modern technology enables the electronic transmission of images that specialized pathology microscopes capture and transform into electronic images. These images can be sent to any part of the world via the Internet; where experienced Pathological Anatomy Consultants can study them and produce precise diagnoses of the samples in question. This is Telepathology.

In modern hospitals, Pathological Anatomy laboratories are equipped with verified and tested protocols for the management of clinical samples and their long distance delivery using electronic images.

These laboratories are equipped with the appropriate hardware and software to obtain high-definition images and a high quality (HD) transmission via the Internet. Advance Consulting Networks, ACN, has the capability to direct and ensure that each sample submitted for diagnosis, is studied and diagnosed by the appropriate specialist pathologist for each case.

Within the wide field of specialties that pathology encompasses today, ACN SL only operates in those of Hematopathology, Gastropathology, Gynecologic and Urologic pathology. These subspecialties are the areas in which we have the appropriate resources for an optimal diagnosis.

Each diagnosis sample is sent to the most appropriate Specialist in the ACN network. This is done following the agreed protocols and according to the requirements of the hospital or clinic submitting the sample. The ACN -Service of Clinical Anatomical Pathology has demonstrated its effectiveness in diagnosing difficult cases and for obtaining a second opinion. Telepathology enables, in minutes, contrasting opinions concerning a same sample, from specialists who are physically located in different parts of the world. Logically, ACN can also be very effective in diagnosing samples from laboratories and hospitals at times when there is an overload of work, in emergencies and in atypical cases. All these considerations are weighed up and taken into account when assigning samples to be diagnosed by the most suitable Specialist Pathologist for the needs of each case.
